Shure is seeking sonic explorers and recording trailblazers. Musicians know inspiration can strike at any time or place, whether it’s on top of a mountain or in the back of a tour bus. Capturing these moments can be tricky at best, but that’s what makes them so special.
We believe gear should encourage not limit your creativity, which is why Shure invited bands, singers and solo artists from 14 countries around the globe to enter our new mobile recording competition Off the Beaten Track.
Grammy-nominated US singer-songwriter Tori Kelly selected the top three winners of the final round. Grand prize winner The Baron’s Jelly will receive a trip to Los Angeles, California and a professional recording session at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.
Hundreds of musicians from around the world entered the first round of Off the Beaten Track. Only a handful competed in the last stage of the competition.
Shure sent each finalist a box of MOTIV gear: An MV88 iOS Digital Stereo Condenser Microphone and an MV51 Digital Large-diaphragm Condenser Microphone. These are powerful tools enabling contestants to create a live performance video with professional-quality audio.
Thanks to all the talented musicians for taking part in the contest! See all the prizes that were up for grabs.
This contest aimed to encourage high-quality mobile recording done in unusual places. Check out our MOTIV Sessions video series for more inspiration. We even made a video explaining how you can make your own your own MOTIV Session.
